Abstract
Some representative results are presented in the area of short-range active microwave imaging which have been obtained in Europe during the last decade, and the general trends concerning their continuation and extension in the next few years are discussed. Without underestimating theoretical aspects and their importance for further evolution of microwave imaging techniques, a special emphasis is placed on the equipment. Both medical and industrial applications are considered.<>
