Abstract
This paper examines the effects of wireless access systems on meteorological radars operating in the band 5600-5650 MHz. It analyses data collected during field experiments involving IEEE 802.11a signals and the CWSR98 weather radar located in Franktown, Ontario, Canada. Results show levels of degradation on the gif, moment data, and ascope products of the radar due to RLAN interference. The work concludes with a maximum aggregate RLAN power level, input to the radar antenna that causes minimum degradation in the radar imagery.
