Abstract :
This paper proposes a new, efficient algorithm for modular inversion in Galois field GF(p). This algorithm reduces the number of operations cycles required by 31% when compared with previous algorithms reported in the literature. The 256 bit modular inversion circuit based on the proposed algorithm is implemented in 0.18 mum CMOS standard cell technology. The synthesis result shows a significant speed-up in the same area complexity.
