Abstract :
Several techniques are proposed for the implementation of a digital microcellular system. These techniques consist of multiple base station registration, a self-organizing dynamic channel assignment named channel segregation, a base station antenna selection diversity, and a linear modulation. These techniques are especially suitable for a digital microcellular system: (1) to cope with decentralization in system control, heavily deformed and overlapped zones, and long duration of fading; and (2) to utilize its property of low transmit power. These techniques can be introduced without significant increase of system cost and equipment size. A system design example based on the DECT (Digital European Cordless Telecommunications) system is shown
