Abstract
Cross-layer design has gained considerable attention recently as a promising technique to achieve performance enhancement for wireless systems. In this paper we investigate the cross-layer resource allocation problem for the downlink multi-user MIMO system, with particular emphasis on packet scheduling and power allocation. By jointly considering the queueing state information from the MAC (multiple access control) layer and the channel state information from the PHY (physical) layer, both the packet scheduling in the MAC layer and the power allocation in the PHY layer are jointly optimized. Numerical results demonstrate the gain achieved by our cross-layer design.
