  • Abstract
In noisy environments, the influence of music genre, type of noise and volume of music was evaluated using headphones and a portable music player. This report shows that noise in a station concourse is more highly evaluated than pink noise under the condition of the same S/N ratio, and classical music was more highly acclaimed than other music genres. Furthermore a smaller volume of music was better than a larger volume. These results can be applied to an optimal volume control method for portable music players.
