  • Abstract
Focusing on the unavoidable impact analysis — more easily understood By identifying key contributing factors to unavoidable Wx / traffic impact we can narrow down the remaining portion of Wx impacts • To seek opportunities for operational efficiency improvements Initial analysis limited to arrival delays at major OEP34 airports We considered only factors within the ‘realm’ of ATM/ATC • Have therefore opted to exclude cancellations from delay computations Identified multiple factors that comprise the ‘unavoidable’ and ‘outside-unavoidable’ portions of Wx impact on arrivals Created a relatively simple arrival queuing delay model • Reasonable correlation with actual data and similar delay magnitude Unavoidable delay % estimates are comparable to other research
