Abstract :
The magnitude of short circuit battery currents is an important factor in designing DC systems including protective devices such as fuses and circuit breakers in standby power systems. Since the operating temperature of stationary batteries may fluctuate, it is also necessary to know the short circuit current at different temperatures. Currents close to short circuit were experimentally measured on three different types and sizes of AT&T Lineage 2000 Round Cells at room temperature and also at an elevated temperature, and the short circuit currents were then calculated. Short circuit currents were also calculated from the internal resistance of the batteries and compared with the experimental values
