Abstract :
This short paper describes the simulation model used and nature of results obtained in a detailed study of the dynamics of a large integrated steel mill. The study was initiated from an extensive database of information on the steel mill loads, and hence is a useful reference point as detailed motor modeling is adopted in the general representation of grid loads. This modeling work on a large system with access to very good description of driven loads provides insights that can be a useful in up modeling of general utility loads in situations where less information is available on loads and a basis for judgment is needed.
