Abstract :
A PC-controlled receiver for monitoring communications traffic within a cordless telephone system is presented. This system is an analog frequency-division multiplexing (FDM) system with 40 full duplex channels spaced 25 kHz apart, and therefore occupying 1 MHz of spectrum of 914 MHz and 959 MHz, respectively. Once the receiver is placed into an environment where a number of CT1 terminals are operating, the following interesting features of the system are made available: field strength, polarization, propagation, number of channels occupied, average holding time of each channel, and traffic density. The receiver offers the possibility to watch either one selected channel or to give information about all the channels of the system. The performance of the receiver is discussed by means of practical measurement examples
