Abstract :
This paper describes the characteristics of synchronous machines´ damper winding saturation on transient condition. The authors analyze loss-of-excitation case and starting phenomena in point of damper winding saturation effect to the transient reactance by finite element method (FEM) and simulation using the electromagnetic transients program (ATP-EMTP) and dedicated analysis program.
