Abstract :
German Telecom use central telecom power plants from many different manufacturers. There was the need for one remote monitoring system which can supervise all these different systems. Basic considerations about the different strategies of data transfer are given. It was necessary to use a low level character set to maintain compatibility of the different systems. A description of the remote monitoring system called SvSig92 is given
