Abstract :
This paper presents a 60GHz System-on-Package (SoP) RF Transceiver (TxRx) module using the Low Temperature Co-Fired Ceramics (LTCC) technology for point-to-point (PTP) Wireless Gigabit Ethernet Communication Systems. This LTCC SoP Transceiver which employs a six-layer dielectric has been developed, fabricated and tested. The transceiver module with a small size of 17.8 × 17.9 × 0.6 mm3 has been integrated with a direct Amplitude-Shift Keying (ASK) modulation and demodulation method to produce a PTP Wireless Gigabit Ethernet Communication System. Its transmitter (Tx) with a size of 13.82 × 6.55 mm2 gives an output power of 12.8 dBm at 62.2405 GHz with LO frequency of 62.25 GHz whereas its receiver (Rx) with a size of 11.02 × 4.31 mm2 shows a good eye pattern. This LTCC SoP RF Transceiver is suitable for short-range wireless networking systems, security camera TV, video conferencing, streaming video like HDTV (high definition television) and wireless downloading systems for small power application. Outdoor wireless link test shows that the transmission range of PTP system using the SoP Transceiver is 1.4 km.
