Abstract :
This paper analyses the influence of load parameters on eigenvalues with low damping that can lead to oscillatory instabilities, namely Hopf bifurcations, in a real power system. For the poorly damped modes at a specific operating point an eigenvalue sensitivity analysis regarding dynamic load parameters is performed. Numerical results are presented for the South-Brazilian power system, and show the dynamic load parameters that are most influent on that kind of bifurcation. The results obtained for this system emphasize the necessity to adopt realistic load parameters in dynamic studies.
