Abstract :
The paper introduces a new multimachine power systems model expression suitable for hierarchical and decentralized control. The main idea is a change of variable leading to a compact third order model in which local variables (from a specific generator) and global variables (from the other generators) are easily distinguishable. The state variables are locally measurable and they are the generator terminal voltage in d-q reference frame components and the rotor speed. All the generators interconnections are explicitly giving. Analysis and controller design, for global stability purpose, become then more tractable. The well-known single machine infinite bus (SMIB) approximate model of large power systems is also derived from the new multimachine model. A numerical example is performed with a four machines power system.
