Abstract
A model of spherical head has been constructed, which consists of skull and interior tissue with different constitutive parameters. Under the radiation of an electromagnetic Gaussian pulse, the local field and SAR in the brain has been calculated by the method of finite difference time domain (FDTD). The paper shows that the SAR near the center of the head has a peak. But the average energy absorbed in the brain does not change linearly as the width of a pulse increases. There is a maximum of SAR at a certain width of a pulse
