Abstract
Summary form only given. Simulations of high power microwave (HPM) devices are dominated by FDTD PIC methods developed by Yee and Boris. This work focuses on extending these techniques to a nested hierarchy of grids for the purpose of adding local refinement. A second order conservative algorithm is presented for the electromagnetics. Furthermore, a novel current weighting scheme is presented for the coarse/fine interface which reduces spurious radiation and provides a smooth divergence-free transition across the interface
