Reconciling incoherence in expressed preferences

Reconciliation is a subject´s response to feedback indicating incoherences in his preference statements. Initial research is reported on designing reconciliation processes, viewed in the paper a vital component of decision aiding. From the viewpoint of normative decision analysis, utility measurement should involve more than collecting a decision maker´s responses to an analyst´s questions: utility measurement should be designed as a process of preference formation and elicitation. The line of inquiry seeks to expand the research in utility measurement by investigating theoretical and experimental foundations for the reconciliation of incoherent preference statements
