Abstract
Numerical creep analyses on rock salt surrounding repository for high level waste (HLW) are carried out using the software FLAC3D. The results show that the cavity tends to be self-sealed. After near 600 years, the repository space is nearly fully closed and HLW can be kept tightly sealed. Therefore, it is very favorable to build safe repositories for nuclear waste in rock salt formation.
