Abstract :
General mode-coupling equations for a straight uniform step discontinuity are derived and formulated in matrix forms. The derivations, mode voltage and current are defined according to planar circuit theory, and consistency with planar circuit theory and conventional circuit theory is kept as much as possible. It is shown that mode-coupling equations can be easily applied to the analysis of practical surface-wave planar-circuit structures.<>
