Abstract
In energetic analysis, the diffuseness of the sound field is traditionally estimated as the proportion of the magnitude of net flow of energy and the total energy. In this article, a novel method for estimating diffuseness in the energetic analysis is presented, where the temporal variation of sound intensity vectors is utilized. The proposed and traditional methods produce similar diffuseness estimation with two- and three-dimensional sound field representations. However, the use of the novel method has notable benefit in the one-dimensional sound field analysis, where more reliable diffuseness estimation is achieved than with the traditional method.
