Abstract
Data confidentiality is critical for communication, which is generally achieved only by data encryption. In this paper, we proposed a hybrid data hiding approach that uses the crypto-steganography method for Uyghur script. This approach first hides the decimal values of the message letters upon the encryption with a secret key table. The decimal values are subsequently converted into the bit-groups with characteristic code mapping. Thus, these bit-groups are able to insert into the cover-text. A payload of one message letter per a group of feature codes for stego-text is therefore generated for data delivery. At the receiver side, different reverse operations can be carried out to recover the original message. This method is useful for the local community to protect the communicating message from being compromised.
