Abstract :
Tremendous interest in multimedia applications such as wireless video streaming drives the need for high throughput WLAN communications. In this paper, we study the interleaver design for MIMO-OFDM based high throughput WLAN transmission which enjoys higher spatial diversity and frequency diversity. New design metrics are proposed as the design guideline to maximize the diversity, which can avoid exhaustive search for interleaver parameters. Different interleaver schemes are proposed which provide tradeoff between implementation complexity and performance. Extensive simulation results show that our design metrics are effective and robust to different channel models and the new interleaver design can achieve 1.5 - 2 dB system performance improvement compared to legacy interleaver
