Abstract :
In digital environment, the size and shape of point-shaped geographic information generally is not of practical meaning. Scholars´ interests are more focused on the spatial structure information that implied in the layout of spatial point clusters rather than the size and shape of a single unit. In order to describe the spatial structure information that implied in targeted point clusters, defining and operating the character parameters for the layout of point clusters has become one of the most crucial research directions for the automatic generalization of spatial point clusters. This assignment, from the angle of visual cognition, discusses the borderline effect of spatial point clusters as well as the contribution of borderline points on maintaining spatial structures of spatial point clusters. On the basis of this, the assignment uses the classical theory of computational geometry - Delaunay Triangulation to compute the borderline points of spatial point clusters. At last, method of automatically generalizing borderline points is raised - using the angle formed by the link lines of borderline points and the ratio of the link lines of borderline points as conditions, to acquire the characteristic points of spatial point clusters.
