  • Abstract
Civil aircraft mobile communications, namely Mo- bile Communications on Aircraft (MCA), provide onboard communications to the airline passengers. However, the cabin of the aircraft has its typical EM wave propagation properties compared with the common indoor environment Specifically, due to the tunnel-shape of the cabin, the radio waves reflect many times and the multi-path signals are abundant. Therefore, some parts within the cabin suffer from the deep fading and the signal is degraded. In this paper, the diversity transmission is introduced in the cabin wireless transmission and obtain the diversity gain, which is quite efficient to fight with the deep fading in cabin. The system structure is proposed and the diversity transmission channel is modeled with the ray-tracing algorithm. The simulation results confirm the validity of the diversity transmission within aircraft cabin, which benefits for the technical development of the mobile communications system on civil aircrafts.
