Abstract :
The authors introduce a method for generating all feasible assembly plans for a flexible assembly system from a computer model of a product. The major objectives are the following: to construct realistic assumptions on an assembly task and an assembly plan; to introduce representation methods of assembly tasks, assembly constraints, and assembly plans in the component domain: to develop an efficient algorithm for acquiring assembly constraints from a computer model of a product under the assumption of an assembly task; and to develop an efficient algorithm for generating all feasible assembly plans of a product under the assumptions of an assembly task and an assembly plan. The focus is on the parallelism of assembly tasks at a workplace as well as between the workplaces
