Abstract
This work draws together and synthesizes concepts from the following topics in order to create a structure for and a basic understanding of the science of knowledge: data, information, knowledge and expertise, rules, laws, models and theorems; structuring, grammar, language and meaning; reasoning, thinking, learning and problem-solving; systems and systems engineering; entropy, redundancy, control and communication; complexity and evolution; and culture, economy and society. The background of this work and the most important research results to date are described
