Abstract
The authors present a new evaluation methodology used for developing or improving some systems with a human interface. It was applied to analyzing questionnaire surveys. The semantic structure analysis method, called SS analysis, is a new analysis method for a graphic representation among questionnaire items, based on multivalued score data. A method for construction and utilization of a synthesized structure using a directed graph, called an SS graph, is discussed. The theory of the SS analysis and its application to system evaluation are considered. Two examples of SS analysis are given. The SS was applied to evaluation of a multimedia computer-aided instruction system. This method was also applied to system evaluation for a new keyboard
