  • Abstract
Testing for the absence of voltage or "test before touch" is essential to ensure electrical systems are de-energized and safe to touch before electrical maintenance or system modifications are initiated. While this task may appear simple and routine, one large chemical company found that a thorough test for the absence of voltage involves more than just a single test, and can sometimes be complex. This paper explores many of the subtle details that must be considered for a complete "test before touch" process, which is truly "easier said than done"
