  • Abstract
    The results of research and development programs on Ni-Cd, Ni-H 2, Ag-Zn, Ag-Cd, Ni-Zn, Ni-Fe, sealed lead-acid and lithium secondary battery systems are discussed. Several types of 10-45 Ah hermetically sealed Ni-Cd batteries and a 20-Ah Ni-H2 proto-battery for space applications have been designed and fabricated. Ag-Zn and Ag-Cd batteries for space applications and Ni-Zn and Ni-Fe batteries for vehicle propulsion are being investigated. More than ten types of sealed lead-acid batteries of special interest for use in rural areas have been developed, and commercial production has been initiated. Two types of Li-V6O13 batteries have been made and tested
