Abstract
The PM integrated motor-drive system for axial pumps has been designed and tested. The motor, being fed by converter, has a power of 4.5 kW at 5000/min rated speed. The propeller is integrated in the hollow shaft of the motor as a straight flow concept. After comparison of the different motor concepts for suitability as integrated pump-drives, the detailed 3-D electromagnetic and thermal calculation is presented. Design layout of the prototype and the comparison between measured and calculated values for voltage, current and temperature rise are given.
