The Old Man from Naharaim: how a Russian revolutionary became the electricity pioneer of Israel

The goal of this paper is to present the multilateral personality of our electricity pioneer, Pinhas Rutenberg, the founder of our electricity corporation, i.e. the father of the Israeli electricity industry and network. In 2008 we celebrated in Israel 85 years of blue-white electricity production at popular low prices here, in Israel, by our reliable national electricity corporation and this is the moment to commemorate also the personality of our electricity ldquofatherrdquo, surnamed ldquoThe Old Man from Naharaimrdquo by the volunteers building the first great power plant project - the Naharaim hydroenergetic system, a landmark in Israel´s energy history.
