Abstract
In this paper a mobile position-based dynamic location algorithm (MPBDL) is proposed based on measured time of arrival (TOA). This algorithm can be used in cellular networks to estimate the mobile location from TOA information detected by several base stations (BS). The TOA number and its corresponding weight utilized in this algorithm can be dynamically adjusted according to the distance between the mobile station (MS) and serving base station. A location estimate can also be made if only the TOA and angle of arrival (AOA) are measured by the serving BS. Therefore this algorithm could be applied to most cellular networks to make the MS location estimate. Simulation results demonstrate that the location performance of this algorithm is satisfactory in three typical mobile communication channels
