Abstract
This paper presents two different sensorless vector control methods for permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) drive at very low speed range. One is high-frequency (HF) signal injection method, which utilizes the electromagnetic saliency of PMSM. The other one is low- frequency (LF) signal injection method, which is based only on the fundamental-wave model of PMSM. This paper compares the two methods by various simulations and experiments and finally some useful conclusions will be given.
