Abstract
Instantaneous power control (IPC) has over recent years been proposed as an alternative method for the control of induction machines. This paper provides a stability analysis of the algorithm using linear techniques. Results are presented which confirm that the algorithm, in its raw form, does have a stability problem in regeneration. However the presence of a PLL based filter on the back-emf estimates, which is essential for practical implementation, stabilises the algorithm.
