Abstract :
The authors present generation expansion planning for large, mainly hydroelectric, power systems, employing a disaggregate representation for the primary existing and candidate hydro plants, and several aggregate representations for the rest of the hydro plants and making use of the equivalent reservoir technique. The formulation and conditions of use of three types of aggregations for the hydro plants are discussed. The goal is to provide versatile technique for building equivalent reservoirs from subbasins
