Abstract
This paper presents a case study in the dangers and consequences involved when the performance of a fast bus transfer scheme becomes unreliable. Current day fast bus transfer system technologies are presented with consideration of replacing an existing system in an operating power plant. Implementation of the new system is presented to provide an understanding of the protection and interlocking controls necessary to provide secure, reliable transfers. Features presently available in system protection components are presented to describe improvements encountered to insure safe operation of the system while making a positive contribution to the successful implementation of a transfer scheme
