Abstract
Two kinds of parallel-processing scheme using a band matrix are discussed: one is with m/sup */m processors, while the other is with m processors only. Since these parallel-processing algorithms utilize the regular structure of the system´s matrix, they are considered to be practical methods, i.e., it is easier to write application programs. To apply this method to real systems, the reduced bandwidths of the matrices of several test power systems are calculated to estimate the number of processors required. The program tested includes only one small aspect of power system analysis, i.e., solution of a linear system of equations.<>
