Abstract
The geometrical features of drill point are important to drilling performance. The tools parameters on drill point are determined by the kinematic model with model parameters of flank surfaces. Meanwhile, a detail CNC programming model is necessary to guarantee the tools parameters on drill point. This paper examines the analysis of both for modelling and grinding of conical twist drill point. The primary tools parameters on drill point are defined and derived based on the kinematic modelling method and cutting theory. Based on the conical flank surface, a manufacturing model between the grinding and the geometrical tools parameters of the flank surface is also established. The face grinding method is employed for performance grinding operations. In cutter coordinates system, the location and orientation of grinding wheels are derived for CNC machining model.
