Abstract :
The article introduces Berry´s (1984) geometric phase (GP) for the radiation field of an open rectangular waveguide for the first time. The decomposition of the total phase of the radiation field into a dynamical and a geometrical part is presented. The causes and characteristic features of GP are discussed
