Abstract
It is demonstrated that MIL-HDBK-217E predictions are overly conservative for both system and components in a small system in an office environment. The data collected and analyzed for this report suggest the quality factor and the environment factor used in MIL-HDBK-217E predictions need modification for office workstations. The data support quality factor recommended by R. Seidl and W. Gerry (1990), and suggest the descriptions of environmental conditions for determining the environment factor. The data provide working values for some families of components in the office workstation system, however, not enough data is available for a comprehensive model at this time
