Abstract :
A novel combined energy recovery system, consisting of a turboexpander of natural gas matched with cogeneration engines, is presented and analyzed. The system can generate electrical energy with very high efficiency, bringing about a considerable saving of raw energy. The matching of the two subsystems is examined under full-load and part-load conditions, and the influence of the design parameters, the operation quantities, and the regulation criteria on the energy and exergy balance of the plant is evaluated
