Abstract
Three types of novel DGSs are proposed firstly in this paper. The electric and magnetic coupling structures for three types of DGS are studied respectively. The S-parameters show that different coupling structures can cause different frequency responses, especially the stopband characteristics and the position of transmission poles. At the same time, the similar coupling structures have similar frequency responses for three types of DGSs. In order to explore the usefulness of the coupled-DGSs, two kinds of low-pass filters (LPFs) are designed. Both filters using coupled-DGSs have compact dimensions, wide passbands and excellent attenuation characteristics in the wide stopband.
