Abstract
It is challenging for agents or responders to find time for online courseware or training facility activities, but the introduction of a common operational picture (COP) enables embedded learning, training, rehearsing, analyzing, reviewing, and improving into operational systems. Switching from ldquoOperational COPrdquo to ldquoTraining COPrdquo enables go-to-work systems to interact with simulated information and data. Linkage to learning management systems provides access to standardized courseware, the ability to receive training credit, and a way to verify credentials in times of crises. Integration of these systems enables a Virtual Instructor to monitor a participant´s actions, compare them with expected actions, pop up related courseware, and provide inputs into the system for participants. The integration of the COP with simulations enables a new level of decision support where the simulation can be initialized to the conditions of the COP and then run in faster than real time to investigate potential outcomes.
