Abstract
The impulse response of simple structures can be modelled as a time-scale process; i.e. the response consists of components that exhibit a constant time-bandwidth product. This property suggests that the response of these structures to any finite bandwidth excitation will be a time-scale process. It is demonstrated that wavelet transforms can be used to exploit this feature of structural responses and are potentially useful tools in structural analysis applications
