Abstract
In this paper, we demonstrate a new type of filter in a two dimensional photonic crystal with triangular lattice. The proposed photonic crystal filter consists of two major parts, one is a resonator formed by a ring defect to take the desired signal from the bus waveguide, and the other one is formed by air holes with triangular lattice. Simulation is obtained by using of finite element method (FEM), and numerical results show that this type of photonic crystal filter exhibits high transmission efficiency, of which the bus waveguide achieves 90%, drop waveguide achieves 78% after optimization.
