Abstract :
A technique of load regulation cancellation based on adaptive body bias (ABB) for single-transistor-control low-dropout regulators (STC-LDOs) is presented. The proposed technique is easy to implement and can effectively improve the dc accuracy by 87% for an output current range of 1 to 100 mA, without having to use a high-gain error amplifier. Simulations using a standard 0.18-μm process show that the load regulation is as small as 7 μV/mA The current efficiency drop due to the proposed technique is below 0.0077% and the whole circuit remains a current efficiency of over 99.985% Stability and transient response are not sacrificed.
