Abstract
The current distribution characteristics of microstrip lines were investigated with the improved spectral domain approach. The Chebyshev polynomials which was selected as basis functions was used to obtain the longitudinal and transverse current distribution on the microstrip lines, then the effective relative permittivity was computed with using small number of basis functions in different rang of frequencies. Compared with the rigorous theoretic methods and other numeric method, this approach showed both high accurately results and less computation time, also the simulation results of HFSS showed that the good agreement have been achieved at the range of h/lambda0 les 0.7.
