Abstract
The extensive calibration work done by member utilities of the WSCC (USA) after the events of 1996 raised questions regarding the modeling of power plant response. Simulations made with the long-accepted dynamic models and data did not match the observed behavior of the power system. The large volume of test work that has been done by the WSCC utilities over the last 2 years has clarified key points that must be understood in performing studies of the behavior of interconnected power systems in emergencies
