Abstract :
The fast multipole method (FMM) reduces the time complexity from O (N2) to O (N1.5) when applies to iteratively physical optics (IPO) for analyzing electromagnetic scattering problems by large cavities. In an attempt to extend the range of problems that can be solved using this technique, we have recently developed a parallel algorithm of IPO and FMM for distributed memory using MPI. Numerical results show good performance of this algorithm with nearly 90% parallel efficiency.
